Lea Ahlborn – Artist, Pioneer and Royal Medal Engraver

Wednesday, 13 November, 18.00 – 19.15

Artist Lea Ahlborn was a female pioneer. As a young woman, she saved money for her education, and in 1855, she had the opportunity to succeed her father as the royal coin and medal engraver. She thus became the first woman in public service in Sweden.

For over 40 years, she held the prestigious role of engraving all of Sweden’s coins and over 400 medals. Ulrika Bornestaf, senior antiquarian at the Royal Coin Cabinet collections, tells the fascinating story of Lea Ahlborn.

Please note that the lecture will be held in Swedish.
