Claudia Goldin – Why Women Won

Why did so many victories for the American women’s movement occur during a few years in the 1960s and 1970s? What lessons can we draw from that era in US history today?

In December 2023, Claudia Goldin, Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University, was in Stockholm to receive the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. On this occasion, she delivered a lecture on the topic “Why Women Won” at the Economy Museum.

Erika Lanner, Director of the Nobel Prize Museum, extended a warm welcome. Following Claudia Goldin’s lecture, there was a Q&A session moderated by Professor Maria Stanfors.
